Convergint is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Architect to join our growing project team. In this critical role, you will be crucial in designing and developing a robust and scalable data architecture to support the continued growth and functionality of Victoria’s Public Transport Ticketing system. You will ensure efficient data management and analysis, enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing the user experience.

This is a Contract role so it is preferred that you have your own ABN/ACN and relevant insurance.

The Project

The Victorian Government is moving myki, a current Card Based Ticketing system, to an Open Loop Payments and Account Based Ticketing system. The Convergint scope of work involves designing, building and testing solutions to meet complex needs and integrating the solution with service providers to enable a seamless end-to-end transit ticketing experience.

You will work on the latest technologies utilising the power of the cloud and the latest integration platforms to stand up the desired services. The rollout of the solution will cover the entire state of Victoria and all modes of public transport.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data architecture for the Public Transport Ticketing system, including data models, data warehousing, data lakes, and data pipelines.
  • Define and document data architecture standards and best practices specific to the Public Transport Ticketing System requirements.
  • Design and implement secure and reliable data storage solutions using various technologies, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and cloud-based storage platforms.
  • Develop and implement data pipelines for collecting, extracting, transforming, and loading data from various Public Transport Ticketing System sources.
  • Design and implement data quality processes and ensure the accuracy and consistency of Public Transport Ticketing system data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data governance policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance.
  • Monitor the health and performance of the Public Transport Ticketing data infrastructure and identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Stay current with the latest data architecture trends and technologies and identify improvement opportunities within the Public Transport Ticketing System.
  • Mentor and train junior data architects and data engineers.

To be successful in the role you will need to have:

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture and design.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing data solutions for large-scale enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and data pipeline technologies.
  • Proven ability to work with various databases, including relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Excellent knowledge of data quality principles and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously.
